“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.”—Audre Lorde
Even the greatest among us must remember to take some time for relaxation, a necessary component of self-care. Stepping back and taking a breath does not show weakness; rather, it shows your intelligence and wisdom to let another take the reigns. Furthermore, it shows your strength by allowing someone else to have temporary leadership. This holiday weekend sit back and relax. Let someone else take charge. And, most importantly, take care of you.
Whether you are a mother biologically, matrimonially, or inspirationally, I pray that you are pouring into a child instead of taking out. I may only have one biological mother, but I was blessed to be given a second mother early in life. In addition, I had my grandmothers, aunts, godmothers, cousins, and many other great women who molded me into the lady who I became today. Whether near or far, I know it was their actions and prayers that got me to this point in life. The greatest legacy that we can leave is by positively inspiring and impacting the next generation. I pray that we all are helping our legacies.

- Outpatient care without a hospital admission, known as ambulatory patient services
- Emergency services
- Pregnancy, maternity, and newborn care
- Mental health and substance use disorder services, including counseling and psychotherapy
- Prescription drugs
- Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices, which help people with injuries and disabilities to recover
- Laboratory services
- Preventive care, wellness services, and chronic disease management
- Pediatric services, including oral and vision care for children
By removing all of these essential services, the Mango Mussolini may believe he has trumped the political system. Let it be known, however, that this is only the beginning. When you mess with affordable care this much, there will be a major price to pay. Your supporters will become your greatest enemies. Lest we forget Eric Cantor…
These services are essential for a reason. Don’t create a sick and deprived nation. You can read the full article on Vox.
